Better Late Than Never

Residents, stakeholders, and family members got together for “Wear Red Day” in order to show their support and participation for the American Heart Association.

There was a great turnout, and lots of support!

I Love You, Too

On February 14, 2017, Gastonia Care and Rehabilitation honored several residents and their spouses at a Couples Valentine’s Dinner. In an effort to create for them a Valentine’s Day date night, five of the 15 couples invited were escorted to private tables to enjoy their Valentine’s Day together.

One husband said, “Valentine’s Day was always our ‘big night out.’ We were poor, so we always saved up for a night on the town every Valentine’s Day.” Husbands were able to give a red rose and box of candy to their sweetheart, and enjoy some smiles and reminiscing as they shared memories.

It was a great team effort to bring some smiles and a few smooches for these couples to share and they celebrated their lives together.

Gastonia Care and Rehab Elders walk for Women’s Heart Health

Pauline Gray and Gilda Wilkes helped the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc bring Women’s Heart Health to Gaston County. Ms. Gray and Ms. Wilkes received the Little Red Dress pin and participated in a Heart Walk around Eastridge Mall in Gastonia, NC. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. Thank you, Pauline and Gilda, for representing for us!

Patriots Win!

On Friday, February 3rd, our 2nd annual “Super Bowl” kicked off at 2:30 pm. The “Patriots” faced off against the “Falcons” with referee Bill from Right at Home flipping the coin. After a grueling battle on the field, the Patriots took the title. Presents donated by Right at Home and Hospice were awarded to the MVP of each team.

Our dietary department and other stakeholders provided awesome dance routines for our half-time show, featuring our plant ops assistant Jerry. Our after the game “tailgate party” featured an awesome choice of snacks and drinks.

Once again, our Super Bowl has been “prophetic” regarding the real thing!

Residents Bring Home the Gold

On Thursday, September 29th, several of our residents and stakeholders headed east to attend Signature Healthcare’s North Carolina Senior Olympics day. They arose early Friday morning, ready to bring home the gold, and that they did with 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and a trophy (displayed in our lobby) for “The Most Wins.” Way to go Gastonia Super Squirrels!
